I originally entered the Navy in Feb. 1969 at white, frigid Great Lakes, Illinois. After boot camp, I went to Propulsion Engineering School at GLAKES. I left in July to my first duty station, USS Hornet CVS 12 as a Boiler Technician. I witnessed the return of the Apollo 12 astronauts as they returned from the Moon. The Hornet was later decommissioned in Bremerton, Washington. I was reassigned to another carrier, USS Kitty Hawk and spent the next 2 1/2 years cruising the Tonkin Gulf of Vietnam. After my enlistment ended in 1973, I joined the Navy Reserves and changed my rating from BT2 to EA2. I returned to active duty in 1982 with NMCB 62 in Gulfport, MS.I deployed with the batallion to Guam, Peurto Rico and Okinawa. I almost reenlisted but was turned away by another distraction. However, I did reenlist into the Saebee Reserves in Orlando, Forida. I was a member of NMCBHU 14 until it was decommissioned then became member of NMCB14. My official retirement date is Jan. 1, 1996. I joined NSVA Island X14FL. I was elected Commander for a couple years and I am now a lifetime member at-large. I am living in Ocala, FL right now but plan to soon return to my home state, Indiana and retire there. Hoping to join another NSVA Island there.

Hello, AgainWell, my old email has become corrupted by a hacker, so I have changed it. The one listed here is the new one. Would like to hear from anyone who was in DPPO Training Co. 145 in Gulfport in August 1969...remember Camille? And also anyone who made the "trip" to Camp Hoover & Camp Haskins South in 1970. I was an EA-3 in Headquarters Co. and a mortar gunner. I visited the "Hill 55 Guys" regularly, worked on Goi Noi job, LTL-4, etc. I got to travel to all the job-sites. I also got a "free trip" to Gitmo.
