I was a part of ship's company that opened the base in the Spring of 1966. After one year duty, which included being assigned to Bldg 1 and Shore Patrol (under Chief Tuozzo and GM-1 Sawaicki), was sent to sea duty. Gulfport and the men were the greatest and hard workers. If anyone knows Jerry Donnelly, please let me know. I have been in contact with and Reid Gilsdorf. Again, a great bunch of guys.

AAAAHHOOOOO Lifer Dogs!!!! Sorry, had a flashback there.

NMCB 62 1980-83 I have yet to be invited to another party that lasted 3 years and let you run 50 ton BLH's at the same time. Awesome memories. Wouldn't trade em for the world.

EA2 - Was pleased to come upon this site as I was looking for an old buddy. I joined 62 in 1971 after being on the "cold" rock, Adak for a year. Deployed to Diego Garcia, Guam before getting out in 1974. Looking back, they were great years, had a great job and met just a great bunch of guys.
